Charlotte  Gowers  (née Bush) -   1824 -

My Great, Great Grandmother Charlotte Gowers (Bush)

The eighth child of Joseph Bush and Susannah Poulton, Charlotte was born in 1824 in the Essex village of Great Waltham. She had eleven siblings, six brothers and five sisters.

She was baptised in the village church of St. Mary and St.Lawrence on 7th March 1824.

Charlotte married George Gowers (my maternal Great, Great Grandfather) on 1st July 1844, in the same church. Their witnesses according to the parish records were John Gowers (George's brother) and Mary Bush (Charlotte's sister).

After the death of George in 1863, Charlotte was remarried to James Hawkes.(b.1824) He was a labourer who also lived in Great Waltham.

They had a son Frederic Hawkes and in later life he owned a Green Grocers shop in Wood Street, Walthamstow, East London.

  2. Howdy,
This heritage layout is quite lovely!

I also do heritage scrapbooking, beaded jewelery making, needlework in addition to cardmaking and art journals/altered books.

Also, just bought my first sewing machine too - for $169 USD marked down from $456 USD! It is so advanced - can't wait to learn to use it. I don't sew at all, I'm more of a designer. But I want to make crazy quilt tops, and a serger is way out of my proce range...

Happy WOYWW and thanks for stopping by my blog, too! Would love for you to become a follower!

    Peace,
